Position: ETL Tester
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to verify the functionality, accuracy, and performance of ETL processes.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and developers to understand project requirements and identify potential areas of risk or concern in the data integration processes.
- Design and implement test scenarios to cover a wide range of data validation scenarios, including data completeness, data transformation, and data quality checks.
- Perform end-to-end testing of ETL workflows, including data extraction, transformation, and loading into target systems or data warehouses.
- Conduct regression testing to ensure that changes or enhancements to existing ETL processes do not introduce any adverse effects on data integrity or performance.
- Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot issues or defects in the ETL processes, and work closely with the development team to resolve them in a timely manner.
- Create and maintain test data sets, test environments, and test documentation to support the testing activities.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to incorporate ETL testing into the overall testing framework and provide inputs for continuous improvement of the testing processes.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in ETL testing to ensure the adoption of the latest tools and methodologies.
- Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions to contribute to the overall growth and success of the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software testing, with a focus on ETL testing.
- Strong understanding of ETL concepts, data integration processes, and data warehousing principles.
- Proficiency in designing and executing ETL test cases using industry-standard testing tools and frameworks.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting languages for data manipulation and validation.
- Experience with ETL testing tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, IBM InfoSphere DataStage, or similar.
- Familiarity with database systems, data modeling, and SQL queries.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues in ETL workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Certification in software testing, such as ISTQB, is a plus.
