Position: ETL Tester

Location: Remote

Duration: 12 Months

Ribbitz LLC, a leading technology consulting firm, is currently seeking a talented and experienced ETL Tester to join our team in a remote capacity for a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of data as it moves from upstream to downstream systems. We are looking for an individual with exceptional SQL skills, extensive experience in testing backend data, and proficiency in AWS, specifically S3 and RedShift. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in source-to-target mapping, SQL querying, and data validation through JSON and/or XML files.

Responsibilities:

1. Data Testing: Perform rigorous testing of backend data to ensure its accuracy and integrity as it flows from upstream to downstream systems.
2. SQL Skills: Utilize strong SQL skills to write complex queries and manipulate data effectively for testing purposes.
3. Source-to-Target Mapping: Possess in-depth experience with source-to-target mapping to ensure data mappings are accurate and consistent.
4. XML and JSON Data Handling: Demonstrate expertise in creating and manipulating XML and/or JSON files to validate documents and ensure data compliance.
5. AWS Ecosystem Testing: Test data movement and transformations within the AWS ecosystem, with a particular focus on S3 (unstructured data) and RedShift (structured data).
6. HIVE Experience (Preferred): Familiarity with HIVE is a plus, especially in handling raw data from HIVE to RedShift and Tableau, though not required.
7. DB and Data Warehousing Concepts: Possess a solid understanding of database and data warehousing concepts to effectively test data pipelines.
8. AWS Services: Leverage AWS services such as S3, RDS, RedShift, Glue, Lambda, etc., for data testing and integration.
9. Test Documentation: Create comprehensive test cases, test scripts, and test plans to ensure thorough and systematic testing processes.
10. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, data engineers, and business analysts, to address data quality issues and improve overall system performance.
11. Data Validation: Develop and execute data validation strategies to identify discrepancies and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
12. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in ETL testing and data validation to enhance testing methodologies.

Requirements:

1. Technical Skills:
   • Exceptional SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries and perform data manipulation.
   • Proficiency in handling XML and/or JSON files for data validation and document verification.
   • Hands-on experience with testing backend data and conducting source-to-target mapping exercises.
   • Familiarity with AWS services, particularly S3 and RedShift, for data movement and transformation.
   • Basic understanding of HIVE for handling raw data in the AWS ecosystem (preferred but not mandatory).
   • Knowledge of database and data warehousing concepts.
   • Prior experience with AWS services such as S3, RDS, RedShift, Glue, Lambda, etc.
2. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
3. Experience: Proven track record of at least 3-5 years in ETL testing, backend data testing, and SQL querying.
4. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate test results and collaborate effectively with team members.
5. Analytical Abilities: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify and resolve data issues effectively.
6. AWS Certification (Preferred): AWS certification is a plus but not mandatory.
7. Remote Work Experience: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote work environment, managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
