Position: WLAN Test Engineer
Location: Chennai
Job Summary: Smartsocs, a leading technology company, is seeking skilled and experienced WLAN Test Engineers to join our team in Chennai. As a WLAN Test Engineer, you will be responsible for testing and validating the performance, functionality, and quality of WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) products. You will work with cutting-edge technologies, such as WLAN IEEE802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, and utilize your knowledge of protocols, layers, and traffic generators to conduct functional, performance, IoT, and certification tests. Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional, performance, IoT, and certification tests on WLAN products.
- Test WLAN products based on WLAN IEEE802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards.
- Independently handle projects and demonstrate strong analytical skills.
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for WLAN testing.
- Validate WLAN performance, ensuring compliance with protocols and layers.
- Verify and test features such as WPA2/WPA3, MU-MIMO, OFDMA, Beamforming, and Roaming.
- Utilize traffic generator tools like Spirent, Ixia, Chariot, or Veriwave for testing.
- Understand and execute tests based on industry standards like RFC2544, RFC2889, RFC3918, etc.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and network engineers, to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Report and track defects using a defect tracking system.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies, protocols, and industry trends in WLAN testing.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-5 years of experience in WLAN testing or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of WLAN technologies and standards, including WLAN IEEE802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax.
- Experience in functional, performance, IoT, and certification testing of WLAN products.
- Sound knowledge of protocols and layers, including Layer 1, 2, 3 in WLAN.
- Familiarity with Ethernet and wired networking is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in using traffic generator tools like Spirent, Ixia, Chariot, or Veriwave.
- Understanding and execution of tests based on industry standards like RFC2544, RFC2889, RFC3918, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good theoretical and practical knowledge of WLAN technologies and protocols.
- Familiarity with WPA2/WPA3, MU-MIMO, OFDMA, Beamforming, Roaming, etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of scripting languages and automation tools is a plus.
