Position: WLAN Test Engineer

Location: Chennai

Job Summary: Smartsocs is seeking a highly skilled and motivated WLAN Test Engineer to join our team in Chennai. As a WLAN Test Engineer, you will be responsible for testing and validating the performance, functionality, and quality of our WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including development engineers, to ensure the delivery of robust and reliable WLAN solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge wireless technologies in a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for WLAN products.
  • Perform manual and automated testing of WLAN features, functionalities, and performance.
  • Collaborate with development engineers to understand product requirements, specifications, and design documents.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using a defect tracking system.
  • Reproduce and debug issues to assist in root cause analysis and defect resolution.
  • Develop and maintain test environments, test setups, and test configurations.
  • Conduct interoperability testing with different WLAN devices and platforms.
  • Verify WLAN protocols, standards, and specifications compliance.
  • Conduct performance testing, including throughput, latency, and packet loss analysis.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure the stability and backward compatibility of WLAN products.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve customer-reported issues.
  • Collaborate with technical writers to provide inputs for creating and updating product documentation.
  • Stay updated with the latest WLAN technologies, industry trends, and testing methodologies.
  • Contribute to process improvements and best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the testing process.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-5 years of experience in WLAN testing or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of WLAN technologies, protocols, and standards, such as IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax.
  • Experience with WLAN test tools and equipment, including protocol analyzers, traffic generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Proficiency in WLAN testing methodologies and test automation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, and switching protocols.
  • Familiarity with wireless security protocols, such as WEP, WPA, WPA2, and WPA3.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) and test automation tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies is desirable.
