Position: STB Manual Testers
Location: Bangalore, India
TESCRA, a leading technology company specializing in software testing and quality assurance, is seeking skilled and experienced STB (Set-Top Box) Manual Testers to join our team in Bangalore. As an STB Manual Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our clients’ Set-Top Box applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in STB testing, experience with Android devices, and knowledge of key technologies such as NDS/Synamedia, CAS, OTT, and linear TV. Responsibilities:
- Perform manual testing of Set-Top Box applications, including functional, regression, and compatibility testing.
- Review project requirements, specifications, and user stories to develop comprehensive test plans and test cases.
- Execute test cases on Android-based Set-Top Boxes, ensuring adherence to testing standards and best practices.
- Identify, document, and track software defects and inconsistencies, and collaborate with development teams to resolve them.
- Conduct thorough testing of NDS/Synamedia Set-Top Box features, including conditional access systems (CAS) and OTT (Over-The-Top) services.
- Test the integration of Set-Top Boxes with linear TV services, ensuring seamless playback, channel switching, and EPG (Electronic Program Guide) functionality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system engineers, and project managers, to ensure the timely resolution of testing issues and the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Provide accurate and timely reports on testing progress, including test coverage, test results, and any identified risks or issues.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to Set-Top Box testing and quality assurance.
- Continuously improve testing processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of STB testing activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an STB Manual Tester, with 2-7 years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge and experience in testing Android-based Set-Top Boxes.
- Familiarity with NDS/Synamedia STB testing, including CAS and OTT services.
- Proficiency in manual testing techniques, test case creation, and defect tracking.
- Good understanding of linear TV services, including channel tuning, EPG, and DVR functionality.
- Knowledge of Conditional Access Systems (CAS) and familiarity with encryption, decryption, and content protection mechanisms.
- Experience in testing OTT services, including video streaming, on-demand content, and app integration.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, isolate, and reproduce defects.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions to clients.
