Position: Manual Testing and Test Automation Engineer
Location: Hyderabad, India
Job Summary: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking an experienced Manual Testing and Test Automation Engineer to join our team in Hyderabad. This position is on a contract-to-hire basis, offering the opportunity to work on challenging projects and potentially transition into a permanent role. As a Manual Testing and Test Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for manual testing, test process management, and implementing test automation frameworks. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 6 years of experience, with at least 3 years in relevant manual testing and test automation roles. Responsibilities:
- Perform manual testing activities, including test planning, test case creation, test execution, defect tracking, and test reporting.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including business analysts and developers, to understand requirements and design effective test strategies.
- Manage the test process by defining test objectives, creating test plans, and ensuring the timely execution of tests.
- Develop and maintain test documentation, including test cases, test scripts, and test data.
- Execute functional and non-functional tests to verify software functionality, usability, performance, and reliability.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using defect tracking tools and work closely with the development team for resolution.
- Participate in test estimation, test effort planning, and test progress monitoring activities.
- Implement test automation frameworks and develop automated test scripts using industry-standard tools such as Selenium, UFT, or similar.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure testability and automation readiness of software applications.
- Execute and maintain regression test suites to ensure the stability and quality of software releases.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for process enhancements and automation opportunities.
- Stay updated with the latest testing trends, tools, and technologies to continually enhance testing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and project managers, to achieve project objectives.
- Provide regular status updates, test reports, and metrics to project stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, providing technical guidance and support as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in software testing, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in manual testing and test automation roles.
- Strong understanding of manual testing processes and methodologies.
- Proven experience in test process management, including test planning, test case creation, and defect tracking.
- Proficiency in functional and non-functional testing techniques and tools.
- Solid experience in designing and executing test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts.
- Hands-on experience in implementing test automation frameworks and developing automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, UFT, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of test automation best practices and frameworks.
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software testing life cycle (STLC) processes.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in Agile development environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- Immediate joiner or serving notice period (preferred).
