Role Overview: As a Manual Test Engineer at Wits Innovation Lab, you will be responsible for the thorough testing of our software applications to identify and report any defects, ensuring a seamless user experience for our clients. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and quality assurance professionals, to execute test plans, create test cases, and validate software functionalities. Your expertise in manual testing methodologies and attention to detail will be essential in delivering high-quality software solutions to our clients.

- Test Planning: Collaborate with the project team to understand requirements, create detailed test plans, and define test objectives, strategies, and scope for each software project.
- Test Case Design: Develop comprehensive and well-structured test cases based on project specifications, functional requirements, and design documents to ensure thorough test coverage.
- Test Execution: Execute manual test cases and perform exploratory testing to identify and isolate defects, ensuring adherence to the defined test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
- Defect Management: Report and track defects using the designated bug tracking system, ensuring proper documentation, and collaborating with the development team to verify fixes.
- Regression Testing: Conduct regression testing to verify the integrity of software after bug fixes or enhancements and ensure existing functionalities are not adversely affected.
- Test Documentation: Maintain detailed test documentation, including test cases, test data, test results, and other relevant artifacts, to ensure traceability and facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Test Reporting: Generate and communicate test progress reports, including test results, test coverage, and quality metrics, to project stakeholders and management.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and automation to enhance the overall testing process and product quality.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of quality and contribute to the overall improvement of the development lifecycle.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in manual software testing.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Proficiency in test case design, test execution, and defect management.
- Familiarity with bug tracking systems and test management tools.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of test automation and scripting languages is a plus.
