Position: Embedded Testing Engineer

Location: Chennai

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and project managers, to understand project requirements and develop comprehensive test plans for embedded software products.
  • Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases to identify software defects, ensuring the functionality, performance, and reliability of embedded controls software.
  • Demonstrate good proficiency in LabVIEW and utilize it for testing and debugging purposes.
  • Implement test automation tools and frameworks for efficient and effective testing, ensuring test coverage and reducing manual effort.
  • Develop and debug microcontroller-based systems, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to specifications.
  • Apply strong knowledge of testing methodologies, test design, and test development processes, utilizing relevant tools to execute black box tests and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Utilize working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to participate in various development and test phases, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Familiarity with embedded and serial communication protocols, such as I2C, RS-485, RS-232, CAN, as well as networking protocols like TCP, UDP, and Wi-Fi.
  • Work with LabVIEW, Test Stand, and LabVIEW Real-time for test execution and data analysis.
  • Utilize scripting languages like Perl and Python to automate testing processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Familiarity with Requirements Management and Configuration Management concepts, including source code version control, bug tracking, and traceability.
  • Maintain awareness of Software Quality and Process concepts, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Knowledge of the HVAC industry is a plus, bringing an understanding of its specific requirements and challenges.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Embedded Testing Engineer or similar role, with a minimum of 2-8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of developing microcontroller-based systems and debugging techniques.
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW for testing and debugging embedded software.
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks, and ability to develop automated test scripts.
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies, test design, and test development processes.
  • Familiarity with SDLC, having worked on projects through different phases of the development and testing lifecycle.
  • Experience with embedded and serial communication protocols (I2C, RS-485, RS-232, CAN) and networking protocols (TCP, UDP) & Wi-Fi.
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW, Test Stand, and LabVIEW Real-time for test execution.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Perl and Python for test automation.
  • Familiarity with Requirements Management, Configuration Management, and Software Quality concepts.
  • Knowledge of the HVAC industry is a plus.
