Job Description

Position Summary

Rockwell Automation’s APBC Business is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer to be a significant contributor to the next generation of new product development. You will have the opportunity to design and develop industry-leading commercial software, known for its innovation and usability. In this position, you will be highly involved in all aspects of software product testing including unit, functional and integration testing, setting up hardware to design automated and manual test systems, developing test plans and test cases, effort estimation, etc. You will play an active role in all stages of the product development lifecycle and support your team throughout the process. You will also help ensure that developed products meet requirements and are within total quality management standards. This position will allow you to collaborate with multiple global cross-functional teams.

What You Will Do

  • Develop test plans and test cases by understanding requirements and adhering to the software system and product requirements.
  • Perform test effort assessment and estimation, test schedule creation, execution, track, document, and report progress.
  • Automated scripting and testing of the products and systems.
  • Defect management – report, analyze, debug, and correct anomalies.
  • Participate in peer reviews of documents, designs, code, test cases and user documentation.
  • Utilize automated test tools and methods to ensure full functional and regression coverage.
  • Responsible for reporting identified issues and documenting test results for follow-up.
  • Build relationships and interact with peers to ensure assigned tasks are prioritized appropriately.
  • Actively seek knowledge of new developments in the software testing & test automation fields.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in Software systems and/or product testing
  • Experience in Java, Python, JavaScript, XML or similar
  • Experience in writing test plans, test cases, conducting reviews and generating reports.
  • Awareness of Software product development process and code collaboration tools
  • Excellent English proficiency and fluency to communicate with people at all levels.

Desired Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience including minimum 3 years of recent experience with automation testing & scripting, including testing framework and programming languages
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects & technologies for test automation.
  • Experience in test management tools (such as Jira, Jama, qTest, ALM)
  • Ability to manage end-to-end product testing lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of virtualized environments (such as VMWare/VM images)
  • Experience with standard version control systems like Git, Jama
  • Experience with NodeJS, JSON, WebDriver, Protractor
  • Familiarity with Rockwell Automation controllers and software tools
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in an Agile development environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
