Position: Lead Software Engineer – Linux / Kernel / Platform

Location: Sadar, Uttar Pradesh, India

Responsibilities

Technical prime in supporting Customer’s Optical Transport Network (OTN) lab activities.
Activities will include, but not be limited to:
Migration of Optical Transport Network (OTN) to the Ciena Manage Control Plan (MCP) management software.
Testing and certifying Customer’s OTN and IP network designs and configurations.
Effectively and efficiently troubleshoot, resolve, and debug Network and NMS issues that occur during migration, testing, and beyond.
Create and execute detailed test plans per customer requirements.
Report issues to Ciena development, and drive resolution of issues to closure.
Chair troubleshooting calls with Ciena R&D, SE&I, PLM, Sales, etc, when necessary.
Maintain action register during migration and meet with the customer at regular intervals.
Create documentation and knowledge-sharing content/competency development for the customer.
Support customer engagements including technical sessions, questions, planning, progress updates, and issue resolution.

The successful applicant for this role will have 5+ years of experience working in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) field preferably with Optical Transport Networking testing and troubleshooting.
Other experience in one or more of the following solutions desired: PON/XGS-PON, SD-WAN, SASE, virtualized edge, or Private 5G.
Test Plan development, execution, and reporting.
Desired Telecommunications technologies including DWDM, OTN, Ethernet, IP, and network security. Ciena MCP or other Network Management System (NMS) background is valuable.
Rest API, automation, and scripting skills are a plus: Ansible, Gitlab CI, JSON, TOSCA, and Python.
Expertise in Ethernet and IP networks is desired: network design, routing protocols, L2/L3, MEF, and network security.
Excellent written, verbal, and data presentation communication skills. Cross-functional collaboration is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, Information Technologies, or equivalent experience.
The ability to travel to support customer engagements.
Position will be primarily remote in Canada with the occasional requirement of being at the customer site.
