Summary:

  • GSTV is growing its quality assurance group with the mandate to act as a final line of defense preventing bugs and defects from impacting business operations. This work will include testing both software developed in-house and customized SaaS products used by GSTV.
  • This role – and group – is essential to the continued creation of value for GSTV’s advertising and retailer partners. You will work with Product Managers, developers, system administrators, and end users on a regular basis.
  • As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you must possess strong problem-solving skills, experience developing manual test plans from creation through execution, and a desire to deliver impactful capabilities to users.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop quality assurance parameters, manual test cases, and test scenarios using business requirements, demonstrations, or wireframe.
  • Documents and execute test cases and scenarios created by you or other team members to validate business rules and requirements
  • Create and maintain the test data needed to support manual testing
  • Partner with engineers or other team members to identify, clearly document, and resolve issues found during testing and by users
  • Provide an accurate status of your progress during the daily standups – including blockers and updated timelines
  • Develop technical tasks from requirements during sprint planning – including setting deadlines and identifying dependencies
  • Help score stories by asking probing questions during backlog grooming sessions
  • Demonstrate new functionality and capabilities to product managers and/or users
  • Participate during retrospective processes by providing critical analysis of how the team can improve
  • Escalate blockers or issues to appropriate leadership
  • Contribute to and further evolve team standards and procedures for measuring quality and readiness
  • Mentor less-experienced peers to develop both technical and soft skills
  • Participate in onboarding new employees with a focus on teaching the GSTV way of developing
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of experience as a senior quality assurance engineer supporting an Agile development team
  • We value philosophy and best practices versus a deep knowledge of any of our individual tools, but we are looking for experience in:
  • Querying Databases – We use both NoSQL (MongoDB and DynamoDB) and SQL (MySQL and RDS)
  • AWS – You will be accessing data from DynamoDB and CloudWatch as part of your manual testing
  • Industry experience in advertising or marketing preferred, but not required
  • Education:

Bachelor’s degree in related areas of study preferred

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design auto test approach for the platform that has multiple different integrations
  • Implement changes in our automated testing infrastructure including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI & CD)

Expectations

  • The salary range for this position in New York City is $85,000 to $140,000.Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This person will be a key member to provide quality assurance testing to ensure any business-requested changes are validated prior to handing off to UAT. This person will learn the business as well as understand the testing framework and processes for our applications. Required to draw on testing knowledge in order to creatively develop solutions for automating test processes as well as design maintenance procedures and documentation. Within this team, there is an open and collaborative approach to work on solutions for applications and workflow processes. Additionally, this person will be required to automate any repetitive steps in a workflow process or application in order to provide the highest quality for our technology and business and will be required to meet those standards and prove your ability to provide the best test capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Review user stories planned for the spring and provides user point estimation during sprint planning
  • Design manual test cases and creates automation scripts for in-sprint testing
  • Execute test cases either manually or using automation test tool during In-sprint testing
  • Review test coverage and ensures traceability of test cases to the business requirements
  • Perform impact assessment of all business requirements and any change to business requirements
  • Maintain applicable test artifacts (Test plan, test cases, test data automation scripts) per the business requirements or change requests
  • Work with Application Lead to standardize user stories sizing (T-Shirt sizing or other estimation techniques)
  • Provide in-sprint testing progress to the functional test lead and escalate any issues/risks

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or comparable discipline is desirable
  • Proficient coding skills and a good level of understanding of the testing methodology
  • Deep understanding of agile methodology and experienced with story point estimation
  • Ability to translate user stories into testable outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to understand complex data flows between various internal and external applications
  • Extensive experience in frontend technologies like JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Basic understanding of KDB (time series database)
  • Automation scripts in environments with python, JavaScript, java, or C#
