Role Summary

Sophos is seeking a talented, experienced Software Development Engineer in Test to join our Sophos CentralPlatform team. As a member of the CentralPlatform, you will be working directly with Development, PM and other functional groups to ensure delivery of highest quality product for software development and support releases. What you will do

• Ability to partner effectively with Development, PM and other teams to design and implement quality while meeting the spirit of Quality Engineering standards.
• Assist with writing and executing sound test cases against product features and functionality.
• Identifying and implementing process improvements for Quality Engineering efficiency
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC from design to delivery on team projects.
• Write test automation code to deliver against project timescales, quality and requirements in various languages for Sophos Cloud products.
• Conduct technical presentations on Test Automation/Quality Engineering specific topics.
• Conduct Unit, System and Integration, functional and performance testing and fixing errors, with guidance if required.
• Define Test scenarios and Test cases to ensure quality of the team’s deliverables.
• Ability to identify major issues and escalate accordingly
• What you will bring
• Thorough knowledge of an object-oriented programming language (Java, C#, and JavaScript Java is preferred.)
• Expert knowledge of industry standard testing techniques and best practices
• Very strong Quality Engineering skills in test execution, test planning, test case design, and test result reporting
• Understanding and testing of microservice frameworks and RESTful APIs.
• Experience in Test Planning including contract/Integration and Functional end to end test cases from requirements.
• Experience executing or writing Test Automation that performs actions such as: HTTP Requests/Responses, query of remote databases, access and execute commands on external systems/VMs.
• Knowledge of performance testing. Knowledge of Gatling/Scala would be helpful.
• Very strong verbal and written communication skills
• Very strong troubleshooting skills
• Good understanding of Linux or Unix Systems fundamentals
• Good understanding of Networking fundamentals
• Exposure to Cloud computing (AWS experience a plus)
• Experience in Agile Scrum SDLC environment
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment SDLC patterns
• Strong multi-tasking skills and technical leadership skills
