Test Engineer | Hyderabad

Job Description:

As a Test Engineer at CriticalRiver Inc., you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software and hardware products. You will be responsible for creating and executing test cases and scripts, effectively reporting and tracking bugs, and working closely with the development team to resolve issues. Your role will encompass both functional and non-functional testing, utilizing various test equipment and tools to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Test Case Development and Execution:
   • Write detailed test cases and test scripts for automation and manual execution.
   • Develop comprehensive test plans that cover functional and non-functional testing requirements.
2. Bug Reporting and Defect Tracking:
   • Report bugs effectively using defect tracking and bug-reporting tools such as JIRA.
   • Track defects through to resolution, ensuring effective communication and reducing gaps between teams.
3. Functional and Non-Functional Testing:
   • Conduct functional testing to verify that software features work as intended.
   • Perform non-functional testing, including power, performance, and stress testing, to ensure software reliability and efficiency under various conditions.
4. Test Equipment Operation:
   • Operate test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
   • Utilize ESPEC Chambers for environmental testing, if required.
5. Automated Testing and Debugging:
   • Run automated tests and perform first-level debugging of test and test-environment related issues.
   • Identify and troubleshoot issues effectively to ensure smooth test execution.
6. Individual and Team Collaboration:
   • Contribute as a strong individual contributor while working well in a team environment.
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve testing challenges.
7. Test Execution and Setup:
   • Execute test plans and fix setup issues to ensure accurate test results.
   • Create detailed rework instructions and guide technicians to implement and verify rework at the board level.
8. Knowledge and Skills:
   • Utilize JTAG debuggers for troubleshooting and debugging purposes.
   • Apply working knowledge of Unix systems for test automation and execution.
   • Debug electronic hardware systems and write board-level rework instructions.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience:
  • Proven experience in writing test cases and test scripts for automation and manual execution.
  • Proficient in bug reporting, defect tracking, and using tools like JIRA for effective communication.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Experience in both functional and non-functional testing, including power, performance, and stress testing.
  • Ability to operate test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and ESPEC Chambers.
  • Experience in running automated tests and performing first-level debugging is a strong plus.
• Analytical Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve test-related issues.
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to think critically to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Communication Skills:
  • Effective communication skills for reporting bugs and defects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting test plans, test cases, and rework instructions.
• Team Player:
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
• Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of using JTAG debuggers and working knowledge in Unix is desirable.
  • Ability to debug electronic hardware systems and guide technicians in implementing and verifying rework.
