Position: ETL Tester
Responsibilities:
- Perform ETL testing activities including test planning, test case design, test execution, defect management, and test reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ETL developers, data engineers, and business analysts, to understand ETL requirements and identify testing needs.
- Design and execute comprehensive test scenarios and test cases to validate data transformations, data loading, and data integrity across various ETL processes.
- Develop and execute SQL queries to extract and validate data from source systems, data warehouses, and data marts.
- Analyze complex data sets and data mappings to identify anomalies, data quality issues, and inconsistencies.
- Identify, report, and track defects using defect tracking tools and participate in defect triage meetings to ensure timely resolution.
- Conduct root cause analysis of ETL-related issues and work closely with development teams to ensure effective resolution.
- Collaborate with the data engineering team to develop and maintain automated ETL testing scripts and tools to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in the review and improvement of ETL testing processes, methodologies, and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging ETL technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve ETL testing capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in ETL testing, preferably in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of ETL testing concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
- Proficiency in writing and executing SQL queries to validate data transformations and data integrity.
- Experience with ETL testing tools and frameworks such as Informatica, Talend, or DataStage.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data integration techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug ETL-related issues.
- Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies and testing processes.
- Certification in software testing, such as ISTQB, is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
